Island Park DGC

Island Park is a newer 9-hole course in Cedar Falls, located along the Cedar River just across from Tourist Park. Opened in 2023, it’s a short, mostly flat and lightly wooded course that makes for a quick, casual round while still offering a few memorable holes. Most holes are in the 180–280 foot range, making Island Park very approachable for newer players and a good scoring course for experienced players. Hole 2 stretches out to 354 feet, while several of the shorter holes require more placement than distance. Trees, mandatories and OB around the park are used to add difficulty to an otherwise fairly open layout. The course has a couple of features that give it more personality than the typical short park course. Hole 1 plays to an island-style green, and the round finishes on Hole 9 with an elevated hanging basket over a sand area. There’s also a dedicated putting area near the shelter with four practice baskets set roughly at Circle 1 distance from one another. Island Park works especially well as a companion to Tourist Park across the street, play both and you can easily turn the area into a 27-hole outing. On its own, it’s a good choice for beginners, families, practice rounds, or experienced players looking for a fast round with plenty of birdie chances. Being in the Cedar River floodplain, wet conditions can occasionally be an issue after significant rain or high water.
