Beechnut DGC

Beechnut Golf Course is a 9-hole disc golf layout built into the existing ball golf course at Stanley Taylor Park in Hudson. It’s an unusual setup for the Cedar Valley, with long, mostly open fairways that feel much more like golf holes than a typical compact city-park disc golf course. At just over 3,000 feet, Beechnut is long for a nine-hole course. Most holes sit between roughly 250 and 435 feet, including four over 350 feet, so distance matters more here than it does at many local nine-hole layouts. The terrain is very flat and only lightly wooded, which puts the emphasis on controlling drives in the open and dealing with wind rather than navigating tight wooded lines. The course uses concrete tees and permanent Gravity baskets. Because the disc golf layout overlaps the ball golf course, players need to stay aware of traditional golfers and may occasionally have to wait or adjust their pace. Hole 6 also brings the river close enough to become a genuine hazard for an errant shot. Beechnut is free to play, donation requested, and generally well maintained thanks to its location on an active golf course. It is not especially technical, but the combination of length, open exposure, water, and shared fairways gives it a very different feel from most nine-hole park courses in the area. Overall, Beechnut is a good option for players who enjoy airing out drives and prefer open golf over heavily wooded layouts. It’s straightforward, spacious, and surprisingly demanding for a nine-hole course.
