Hillcrest Apartments DGC

Hillcrest Park Apartments is a unique 9-hole course wrapped around an apartment complex on the west side of Cedar Falls. Despite the setting, it isn’t a little pitch-and-putt course—the current layout stretches to just under 3,000 feet, with several holes over 300 feet and one reaching more than 500. The course is mostly flat and relatively open, but much of the difficulty comes from the extremely tight areas available for landing a disc. Apartment buildings, parking lots, parked cars, tall grass, and narrow strips of green space frequently define the fairways. That makes accuracy and good judgment considerably more important than the lack of woods might suggest. UDisc currently rates the layout as hard. Grass tees and limited signage give Hillcrest a fairly informal feel, and having UDisc available is helpful for finding the intended tee locations and navigating the course. The baskets themselves are permanent DISCatcher targets. The course was established in 2017 and is free to play. Hillcrest is probably best viewed as a curiosity rather than a destination course. The apartment-complex layout creates some genuinely unusual shots, but it also means parked vehicles and other private property can come uncomfortably close to the intended lines. Players should be especially cautious when the complex is busy. It’s certainly one of the more unconventional courses in the Cedar Falls area: nine holes, surprising distance, and a layout squeezed into places you normally wouldn’t expect to find disc golf.
