Edward Medard Park DGC
Plant City, Florida
An 18-hole, all-par-3 course inside Edward Medard Conservation Park, a big Hillsborough County park built around a 700-acre reservoir off Turkey Creek Road in Plant City. The front nine is mostly flat, weaving between oak and pine woods and open grass beside the park roads. The back nine gets hilly (unusual for Florida) and drops into swampy low ground, where water is in play on holes 11 through 15 and a disc that goes in is hard to get back. Expect about 5,400 ft of mostly 200-400 ft holes, with concrete tee pads, a tee sign on every hole, and gray Gateway Titan baskets. Hole 11 has a mandatory: pass left of the marked tree, or play from the drop zone on the tree's left side if you miss it. OB includes the park road on many holes, water on 11-15, and the pavilion pad on 17. The first tee is next to the parking area, and the course loops back past the lot after hole 9. Entry is $2 per vehicle (up to 8 people) at the gate. The park opens at 8 AM and closes at 7 PM in spring and summer, 6 PM in fall and winter. Restrooms, water, picnic shelters and a campground are on site. Leashed dogs are allowed; alcohol isn't. Bring bug spray in the warm months and floaters for the back nine. Est. 2011.
