Expect thoughtful design, clean fairways, and a friendly local scene! Wiconisco Creek Disc Golf Course began in the spring of 2022 when Chris Wenner proposed the idea to Dauphin County Parks & Recreation. The original vision was a simple 9-hole pitch-and-putt course designed to introduce disc golf to the area. As planning progressed, additional land north of Water Company Road became available, allowing the project to expand into a full 18-hole course. The course was built entirely through community effort. Funding came from local donations and sponsorships, while construction was completed through countless volunteer hours alongside support from the Dauphin County Parks & Recreation crew. What started as a small idea quickly grew into a large community project. A key part of the design philosophy was preserving the natural landscape. The course was carefully planned and cleared with a strict commitment to protect mature, living trees. Throughout the entire build, fewer than five mature trees were removed, with the focus instead placed on clearing deadwood and invasive species. This approach helped maintain the character of the property while creating fair and challenging golf lines. Many of the course features reflect that same mindset. Benches throughout the course were crafted from wood milled from fallen trees found on-site, giving the course a unique and local touch. The inspiration behind Wiconisco Creek Disc Golf Course was simple: bring the sport to the community. At the time, the nearest course was roughly 45 minutes away, creating a barrier for new players. This course was built to provide a welcoming, accessible place for people of all skill levels to experience disc golf close to home.
